Overview
Brilaroxazine is a novel, investigational third-generation antipsychotic and serotonin-dopamine system modulator developed by Reviva Pharmaceuticals. It acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2, D3, D4 and serotonin 1A and 2A receptors, while antagonizing serotonin 6 and 7 receptors. This unique receptor profile distinguishes it from other antipsychotics and underpins its broad-spectrum efficacy in neuropsychiatric disorders. Brilaroxazine is being developed primarily for schizophrenia (Phase III), with additional development for schizoaffective disorder (Phase II), bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, ADHD, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and psoriasis. The drug has demonstrated robust efficacy across all major symptom domains of schizophrenia with a favorable safety profile in clinical trials[1][2][4][5][8].
