Overview

Brimonidine + dorzolamide is an ophthalmic fixed-combination of two small-molecule intraocular pressure–lowering agents used in the management of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Brimonidine is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that decreases aqueous humor production and increases uveoscleral outflow, while dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that reduces aqueous humor secretion by blocking carbonic anhydrase II in the ciliary processes.[2][4][8] By combining these complementary mechanisms in a single topical formulation, the product provides additive intraocular pressure reduction compared with either component alone and can improve adherence relative to separate eye drops in patients requiring multi-drug therapy.[3][6][7]
