Bris10 M2SR Vaccine

Bris10 M2SR Vaccine is an investigational, live attenuated intranasal influenza vaccine developed by FluGen, Inc. It is built on the M2SR (M2-deficient single replication) platform, which utilizes a vaccine virus engineered to lack the gene for the essential M2 ion channel protein. This modification restricts the virus to a single round of replication within the host's nasal epithelial cells, preventing the production of infectious progeny and eliminating viral shedding or spread. The vaccine specifically expresses the hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) surface antigens of the influenza A/Brisbane/10/2007 (H3N2) strain. By mimicking a natural infection without causing disease or shedding, Bris10 M2SR is designed to induce broad mucosal, systemic, and cellular immune responses. Clinical studies, including Phase 1 and Phase 2a human challenge trials, have demonstrated that the vaccine is safe, immunogenic, and capable of providing protection against both matched and drifted influenza A(H3N2) strains.
