Overview

**Brivanib alaninate + paclitaxel** is an investigational combination therapy for advanced or metastatic solid tumors. Brivanib alaninate is an orally administered prodrug of brivanib, a small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that selectively and potently inhibits both the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathways, thereby suppressing angiogenesis and tumor cell proliferation[1][2][3]. Paclitaxel is a microtubule stabilizing agent widely used as a cytotoxic chemotherapy that inhibits cell division by promoting tubulin polymerization and blocking the mitotic process. The combination is being explored for synergistic antitumor activity, primarily in solid tumor indications including hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and others[1]. Brivanib alaninate is developed by Bristol Myers Squibb; paclitaxel is generically manufactured and broadly available from multiple sources.
