Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Brivasac-75 is a generic formulation of brivaracetam, an antiepileptic drug developed and marketed by AMSAC Pharma. Brivaracetam is a high-affinity, selective ligand for synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A), a membrane protein found in neurons that plays a key role in regulating neurotransmitter release. By binding to SV2A, brivaracetam modulates synaptic vesicle exocytosis, thereby stabilizing neuronal excitability and preventing the hyperexcitable firing associated with seizures. Brivasac-75 is formulated as a 75 mg film-coated tablet and is indicated as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset (focal) seizures in patients with epilepsy.
