Brivasure

Brivasure is a brand-name anti-epileptic medication containing the active ingredient brivaracetam, manufactured by Alkem Laboratories. It is primarily used for the management of partial-onset seizures in patients with epilepsy. Brivaracetam, the active component, is a small molecule anticonvulsant that exhibits a high and selective affinity for synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) in the brain. By binding to SV2A, the drug is thought to modulate neurotransmitter release and stabilize abnormal electrical activity, thereby preventing the occurrence of seizures. Brivasure is available in various formulations, including oral tablets, oral solutions, and injections, and can be administered as either monotherapy or adjunctive therapy.
