Brixelle-Shine is a preclinical-stage theranostic nanoparticle developed by Bilix, utilizing the company's BRIXELLE platform. It is composed of PEGylated bilirubin nanoparticles designed to serve a dual purpose: acting as an ultrasound contrast agent for imaging and as a therapeutic agent for inflammatory diseases. The mechanism of action involves the natural ability of bilirubin to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby reducing oxidative stress and inflammation at target sites. As a theranostic, it aims to provide real-time imaging of inflammation while simultaneously delivering anti-inflammatory effects.
