Overview

BRLIZIO (LPCN 1154) is an investigational oral formulation of brexanolone, a neuroactive steroid chemically identical to endogenous allopregnanolone. It acts as a positive allosteric modulator of synaptic and extrasynaptic GABA-A receptors. Developed by Lipocine, BRLIZIO is designed as a short, 48-hour oral regimen for the rapid treatment of postpartum depression (PPD) in an outpatient or at-home setting, bypassing the need for the intensive healthcare monitoring required by intravenous formulations of brexanolone.
