Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BRM412 is an anti-angiogenic topical eye drop formulation of axitinib, a potent small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor, being developed by BRIM Biotechnology for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD). Licensed from Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), BRM412 is designed to deliver axitinib directly to the posterior segment of the eye, offering a non-invasive alternative to the standard-of-care intravitreal injections. By inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3), the drug suppresses the abnormal blood vessel growth and vascular permeability that characterize wet AMD. BRM412 has completed formulation optimization and is progressing toward Phase II clinical trials, with potential for orphan drug designation and a 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway.
