Overview

Bromelain + comosain is a combination of two proteolytic enzymes derived from pineapple (Ananas comosus). Bromelain is a well-characterized mixture of thiol endopeptidases and other components, known for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and potential anticancer properties. It works by selectively inhibiting the biosynthesis of proinflammatory prostaglandins and has been used to reduce inflammation, treat osteoarthritis pain, support wound healing after surgery, and aid digestion[2][3][9]. Comosain is another name sometimes used for a protease found in pineapple; however, it is not widely recognized as distinct from bromelain in major pharmacological references. The combination would be expected to act as a proteolytic enzyme supplement with anti-inflammatory effects.
