Brompheniramine is a first-generation antihistamine of the alkylamine class used to relieve symptoms associated with allergies and the common cold such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes. It acts primarily as an antagonist (more accurately an inverse agonist) at histamine H1 receptor and also exhibits moderate antimuscarinic (anticholinergic) activity. This dual action helps reduce allergic symptoms but can cause side effects like drowsiness and dry mouth.
