Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BromSite (ISV-303) is a topical ophthalmic solution containing 0.075% bromfenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), formulated with the DuraSite drug delivery technology. Developed by InSite Vision (a subsidiary of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries), it is the first NSAID approved by the FDA for both the treatment of postoperative inflammation and the prevention of ocular pain in patients undergoing cataract surgery. The DuraSite platform is a synthetic polymer-based system that increases the residence time of the drug on the ocular surface, allowing for lower dosing concentrations compared to conventional formulations. Bromfenac works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in inflammation and pain.
