Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bronchipret TP is a herbal medicinal product (phytopharmaceutical) developed by Bionorica SE for the treatment of acute bronchitis and colds characterized by productive cough and viscous mucus. It is formulated as film-coated tablets containing a fixed combination of thyme herb dry extract (*Thymus vulgaris* or *Thymus zygis*) and primula root extract (*Primula veris* or *Primula elatior*). The drug exerts anti-inflammatory and secretolytic effects, specifically by inhibiting the influx of polymorphonuclear (PMN) cells into the lungs and reducing the expression of mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) protein. It is indicated for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older and has been evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials in Germany to confirm its efficacy and tolerability in treating acute bronchitis with productive cough.
