Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bronchostop is a traditional herbal medicinal product developed and marketed by Kwizda Pharma for the relief of coughs associated with the common cold. It features a dual-action formulation containing extracts of thyme (*Thymus vulgaris* and *Thymus zygis*) and marshmallow root (*Althaea officinalis*). Thyme extract serves as an expectorant and bronchodilator, facilitating the thinning and expulsion of thick phlegm in productive coughs. Marshmallow root extract contains mucilaginous polysaccharides that form a protective layer over the pharyngeal mucosa, providing a demulcent effect that soothes irritation and suppresses the urge to cough in dry, tickly coughs. Bronchostop is available over-the-counter in several oral formats, including syrups, lozenges, and pastilles, and is widely distributed across European markets.
