Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PMK N02RS1 (broussonetia + lonicera) is a botanical combination drug developed by PharmaKing for the treatment of acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. The formulation consists of a 1:1 mixture of the ethyl acetate fraction from the root barks of *Broussonetia papyrifera* and a 70% aqueous ethanol extract from the whole plants of *Lonicera japonica*. Its therapeutic mechanism involves the dual inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), which reduces leukotriene production, and the down-regulation of key proinflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6, and IFN-γ. The drug has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in South Korea to assess its efficacy and safety using the Bronchitis Severity Score (BSS).
