Broxaterol is a small molecule β2 adrenoreceptor agonist used for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It acts by stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, leading to muscle relaxation and bronchodilation. Clinical studies have shown that broxaterol produces significant improvement in lung function, including increased FEV1 and reduced need for supplemental anti-asthmatic drugs in patients with reversible airflow obstruction and asthmatic children. The drug has demonstrated efficacy both as a nebulizer solution and via metered dose inhaler, with effects superior to placebo and sustained over long-term use. Broxaterol is generally well tolerated; common side effects include tremor, nervousness, and palpitations[1][3][5].
