Overview

BRP-011 is a small molecule prostaglandin analogue being developed by BioResearch Pharma as a topical treatment for hair loss conditions, specifically androgenetic alopecia and alopecia areata. It is an active metabolite of latanoprost and acts as a potent agonist of the prostaglandin F (FP) receptor (PGF2α receptor). BRP-011 has demonstrated significantly higher potency compared to latanoprost in activating prostaglandin-dependent hair growth pathways. Initially overlooked due to perceived low bioavailability, subsequent research by BioResearch Pharma confirmed its efficacy in promoting hair growth. The drug is currently in preclinical development and has secured patent protection in multiple European countries and the United Kingdom.
