The program utilizes a radioligand therapy (RLT) approach, which involves a targeting moiety conjugated to a therapeutic radionuclide to deliver ionizing radiation directly to cancer cells. BRP-040 is being evaluated with multiple radionuclides, including Lutetium-177 (177Lu), a beta-particle emitter, as well as Actinium-225 (225Ac) and Lead-212 (212Pb), which are alpha-particle emitters. While the specific biological target of the radioligand remains undisclosed, the therapy is designed to induce targeted DNA damage and subsequent apoptosis in tumor cells while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues.
