Overview

BRS201 is an inhaled therapeutic agent composed of the secretome derived from human lung stem cells (LSC-SEC). Developed by Suzhou Bioray Biotech in collaboration with Shiyan Taihe Hospital, it is primarily investigated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive fibrotic interstitial lung disease (PF-ILD). The secretome is a complex mixture of bioactive molecules, including exosomes, growth factors (such as HGF and VEGF), and cytokines, that exert anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and regenerative effects. BRS201 is designed to promote the repair of damaged alveolar epithelial cells and inhibit the activation of myofibroblasts by suppressing the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway, thereby slowing or reversing the progression of lung fibrosis. The drug is administered via inhalation to ensure direct delivery to the pulmonary tissue while minimizing systemic exposure.
