Overview

BRS201 is a cell-free biologic therapeutic candidate developed by BreStem Therapeutics for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It consists of the secretome and exosomes derived from lung spheroid cells (LSCs), which are a population of lung stem cells. Administered via inhalation, BRS201 aims to replicate the regenerative microenvironment of lung stem cells to promote lung repair, reduce collagen accumulation, and reestablish normal alveolar structure. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its ability to attenuate and resolve bleomycin- and silica-induced fibrosis by decreasing myofibroblast proliferation and inflammation. The therapy is designed to provide a regenerative stimulus to the lung tissue without the complexities associated with direct cell transplantation.
