brtxDISC is an autologous stem cell therapy developed by BioRestorative Therapies for the treatment of degenerative disc disease and other spine-related conditions. The therapy utilizes mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from the patient's own bone marrow, which are cultured using a proprietary method licensed from Regenerative Sciences and the University of Utah. The treatment involves the delivery of these cultured cells directly into the intervertebral disc using a specialized curved needle device. brtxDISC is designed to promote tissue repair and regeneration within the disc to alleviate chronic back pain and restore function. The program has advanced into Phase 2 clinical development following the company's reorganization and emergence from bankruptcy in 2020.
