Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BRV-PV + DPT-HepB-Hib + OPV is a combination immunization regimen that includes three vaccines commonly administered together in childhood immunization programs: - **BRV-PV** (Bovine-human reassortant pentavalent rotavirus vaccine) is an oral live attenuated rotavirus vaccine developed from five bovine (UK) x human rotavirus reassortant strains (serotypes G1, G2, G3, G4, and G9). It provides protection against severe gastroenteritis caused by rotavirus infection. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against multiple serotypes of rotavirus[6]. - **DPT-HepB-Hib** is a pentavalent or hexavalent combination injectable vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B virus infection and Haemophilus influenzae type b. Some formulations also include inactivated poliovirus (IPV), making it a "6-in-1" or hexavalent vaccine. The mechanism of action involves inducing immunity through exposure to toxoids and antigens for each component disease[3][5][8]. - **OPV** (Oral Polio Vaccine) is a live attenuated oral polio virus vaccine used to prevent poliomyelitis by inducing mucosal and systemic immunity against poliovirus[2]. This combined regimen targets major causes of infant morbidity and mortality including diarrheal disease from rotavirus; bacterial infections such as diphtheria and Hib; viral hepatitis B; pertussis; tetanus; and polio. These vaccines are typically given according to national immunization schedules in early infancy.
