Overview

BRV-TV is a live attenuated, oral, tetravalent bovine-human reassortant rotavirus vaccine developed by Shantha Biotechnics (a subsidiary of Sanofi Pasteur). The vaccine is engineered using technology from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), utilizing the UK Compton strain of bovine rotavirus as a backbone to express human rotavirus VP7 serotypes G1, G2, G3, and G4. It is designed to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants and is typically administered as a three-dose oral series at 6-8, 10-12, and 14-16 weeks of age. Clinical development has progressed through Phase III trials in India, demonstrating safety and immunogenicity against the leading causes of severe childhood diarrhea.
