Overview

Bryophyllin A is a naturally occurring bufadienolide compound isolated from the plant *Kalanchoe pinnata* (also known as *Bryophyllum pinnatum*). As a small molecule natural product, it has been investigated in preclinical research for its potential biological activities, including anti-tumor promoting, insecticidal, and cardiovascular effects. Computational modeling has suggested that bryophyllin A may interact with targets such as the HER2 protein, adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), potentially offering therapeutic avenues for cancer and atherosclerosis. Despite these research findings, bryophyllin A is not currently a pharmaceutical drug in clinical development, and no commercial brand names or formal drug development programs are associated with it.
