Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BS012** is an investigational multi-herb phytotherapeutic mixture consisting of 70% ethanol extracts of *Platycodon grandiflorum*, *Cinnamomum cassia*, and *Asiasarum sieboldii* in a 2:2:1 ratio. It was developed as a natural-product candidate and has been evaluated preclinically by oral and topical administration. In diet-induced mouse models of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, BS012 reduced hepatic steatosis, inflammation, apoptosis, and fibrosis, with reported pathway effects including suppression of carbohydrate-responsive element-binding protein alpha, Toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor kappa B signaling, and transforming growth factor beta/SMAD signaling, alongside activation of AMP-activated protein kinase-associated fatty-acid oxidation. Separate preclinical studies have also reported activity in atopic dermatitis and allergic asthma models through attenuation of type 2 inflammatory responses, inflammatory mediators, and apoptosis-related signaling.
