Overview

Bsense Bio Therapeutics is developing a small molecule dual ion-channel modulator for the treatment of tinnitus. The therapeutic approach involves the simultaneous inhibition of the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channel and the activation of Potassium Voltage-Gated Channel Subfamily Q Member 2/3 (Kv7.2/3) channels. These channels are co-localized on sensory neurons, and the dual modulation is designed to dampen neuronal hyperexcitability associated with sensory disorders like tinnitus. While the company's lead asset, BSEN760, is in clinical development for chronic pain, the tinnitus program is currently in the preclinical stage.
