BSI-04 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that selectively targets the non-functional P2X7 (nfP2X7) receptor, a cancer-specific conformational variant of the P2X7 ion channel. While the functional P2X7 receptor is widely expressed in healthy tissues, the non-functional isoform is specifically found on the surface of a broad range of cancer cells, making it a highly selective target for oncology. Developed by Biosceptre, BSI-04 is designed to treat advanced solid tumors by binding to nfP2X7 and potentially inducing tumor cell death through mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) or by interfering with the receptor's role in cancer cell survival and proliferation. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with advanced malignancies.
