Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BSL02 is a pipeline drug candidate developed by the Spanish biotechnology company Retinset for the treatment of glaucoma. It is a topical ophthalmic formulation (eye drops) designed to deliver neuroprotective agents to the posterior segment of the eye, specifically targeting the protection of retinal ganglion cells. BSL02 utilizes Retinset's proprietary delivery platform, which facilitates the non-invasive transport of therapeutic compounds across ocular barriers to reach the retina and optic nerve. The drug aims to prevent the neurodegeneration that leads to vision loss in glaucoma patients. As of 2024, BSL02 is in the preclinical stage of development, following the company's lead candidate, BSL01, which is being investigated for diabetic retinopathy.
