Overview
Bstrongximab-MMAE is a novel antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) developed by CUREMETA for the treatment of advanced metastatic gastric and pancreatic cancers. It consists of Bstrongximab, a chimeric IgG1 monoclonal antibody, conjugated to the cytotoxic payload monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE). The antibody component specifically targets TRA-1-60, a carbohydrate antigen highly expressed in embryonic stem cells and re-expressed in certain primitive, retrograde-like malignant cells in gastric and pancreatic tumors, while remaining absent in normal adult tissues. By targeting these embryonic-like characteristics, Bstrongximab-MMAE aims to overcome tumor resistance and dissemination associated with standard therapies.
