Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BSVEQAb (Equine COVID-19 Antiserum) is an equine-derived polyclonal antibody product developed by Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSVL) for the treatment of COVID-19. The therapeutic consists of F(ab')2 fragments of equine polyclonal antibodies generated by immunizing horses with the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This biologic therapy is designed to provide passive immunization to COVID-19 infected patients, with the goal of neutralizing the virus, reducing viral load, and preventing disease progression. BSVL utilized its established expertise in equine biologicals—previously applied to anti-snake venom and anti-rabies treatments—to develop this product. It has been evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials (NCT04834908) to assess safety and efficacy in RT-PCR positive patients.
