BT-1501 (also known as BTT-1501) is a small molecule inhibitor of Vascular Adhesion Protein-1 (VAP-1), also known as Amine Oxidase Copper Containing 3 (AOC3). Developed by Biotie Therapies (which was later acquired by Acorda Therapeutics), the drug was designed to target the enzymatic activity of VAP-1, which plays a critical role in the recruitment of leukocytes to sites of inflammation. By inhibiting VAP-1, BT-1501 aims to reduce the inflammatory response associated with various chronic conditions. The program was primarily investigated for the treatment of inflammatory and fibrotic diseases, including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). However, development of the asset appears to have been discontinued following the acquisition of Biotie by Acorda.
