Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BT8825 is a research-stage monoclonal antibody program being developed by BioArctic in collaboration with Novartis for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The program utilizes BioArctic's proprietary BrainTransporter™ technology, which leverages transferrin receptor (TfR)-mediated active transport to facilitate the delivery of therapeutic antibodies across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This platform is designed to significantly increase brain exposure—up to 70-fold compared to conventional antibodies. BT8825 combines this transport mechanism with a proprietary Novartis antibody directed against an undisclosed molecular target associated with neurodegeneration. As of August 2025, the program is in the early research and preclinical stages.
