Overview

BTI-615 is a synthetic peptide drug candidate that acts as an inhibitor of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1). TGF-β1 is a key mediator in the development of fibrotic diseases, driving the formation of fibrotic tissue and impairing tissue repair and regeneration. Preclinical studies have shown that BTI-615 inhibits TGF-β1 signaling, reduces active TGF-β1 levels, and decreases phosphorylation of Smad2/3 in lung tissue, resulting in suppression of lung fibrosis in animal models. The drug is being developed primarily for respiratory diseases, with pulmonary fibrosis as its lead indication. There are also reports suggesting potential activity against liver fibrosis[1][5][7].
