Overview

BTI320 is a proprietary, chewable oral formulation composed of fractionated mannan polysaccharides (galactomannan-α and -β) derived from legume seeds. It acts as a non-systemic inhibitor of carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzymes in the gastrointestinal tract—including alpha-glucosidase, amylase, maltase-glucoamylase, sucrase, and lactase—thereby reducing the breakdown and absorption of complex carbohydrates into glucose. This mechanism attenuates postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose excursions without causing hypoglycemia. BTI320 has been studied for use in type 2 diabetes mellitus and prediabetes to help manage blood sugar levels as an adjunct to lifestyle modification or other therapies. It is available over-the-counter as a dietary supplement under the brand name Sugardown[1][3][4][6][7].
