BTN166 is an mRNA vaccine candidate developed by BioNTech. It is specifically designed to target mpox, a viral disease. The development of BTN166 is supported by funding from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), with an initial allocation of up to $90 million to advance the candidate in response to the 2022 mpox outbreak. BioNTech is also scaling up its manufacturing facility in Kigali, Rwanda, which will contribute to the production of this vaccine.
