Overview

BTP0209 is a small molecule late sodium current inhibitor developed by Jiangsu Nuohobito New Drug Research and Development Co., Ltd. for the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. The drug specifically targets the late sodium current ($I_{Na,L}$), which is pathologically enhanced during myocardial ischemia. By inhibiting this current, BTP0209 reduces intracellular sodium accumulation and subsequent calcium overload mediated by the sodium-calcium exchanger. This mechanism improves myocardial relaxation, reduces ventricular wall tension, and enhances microvascular perfusion, providing anti-anginal effects without the hemodynamic side effects typically associated with beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers.
