Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BTX 1308** is a topical liquid formulation of synthetic cannabidiol (CBD) developed by Botanix Pharmaceuticals using their proprietary Permetrex skin delivery technology for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. Cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, exhibits anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating effects in skin tissue, as confirmed by biopsy data from a Phase 1b study showing reduced inflammation markers and immune cell infiltration compared to vehicle and active comparators. The formulation leverages CBD's multi-modal activity, including potential antimicrobial properties against Gram-positive bacteria, addressing both inflammatory and infectious components of dermatological conditions. A completed Phase 1b evaluator-blinded plaque test demonstrated preliminary safety, tolerability, and anti-psoriatic efficacy in mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis patients.
