Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bu Fei Huo Xue Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation composed of three primary herbal ingredients: *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), and *Psoralea corylifolia* (Buguzhi). It is formulated based on the TCM principle of "Yi Qi Huo Xue," which translates to supplementing Qi and activating blood circulation. The capsule is widely used in China for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases, particularly Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), where it is intended to improve lung function and exercise tolerance. Recent clinical research, including trials sponsored by The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, has expanded its investigation into chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). In this context, it is being evaluated for its ability to improve cardiopulmonary function in patients with residual pulmonary hypertension following surgical interventions like pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) or balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA).
