Overview
Bu Fei Jian Pi Hua Tan granule + Yi Qi Yang Yin Qing Fei granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic regimen developed by Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed for the post-discharge management of elderly patients who have suffered from community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). The treatment follows the principle of syndrome differentiation (Bian Zheng), where patients are prescribed either Bu Fei Jian Pi Hua Tan granule (for lung and spleen qi deficiency and phlegm-dampness) or Yi Qi Yang Yin Qing Fei granule (for qi and yin deficiency and phlegm-heat). These granules aim to reduce rehospitalization rates and improve clinical recovery by tonifying qi, nourishing yin, and clearing residual phlegm and heat, thereby addressing the systemic weaknesses often found in the elderly post-infection.
