Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bu Shen Rou Gan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of refractory chronic hepatitis C, particularly in patients who have failed standard antiviral therapies or are ineligible for them. The formula is based on the TCM principles of tonifying the kidney (Bu Shen) and softening the liver (Rou Gan), which are intended to address the underlying imbalances associated with chronic liver disease. In clinical studies, such as the randomized, double-blind trial ChiCTR-TRC-12002804, it is evaluated for its ability to improve liver function and provide virological or biochemical benefits in a multi-regimen TCM approach alongside other formulas like Yi Qi Jie Du and Shu Gan Jian Pi.
