Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bu Shen Yi Qi Fang (also known as Bushen Yiqi formula or BY granule) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal decoction developed by Professor Shen Ziyin at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University. The formula is primarily composed of three herbal ingredients: *Herba Epimedii* (Epimedium), *Radix Astragali* (Astragalus), and *Radix Rehmanniae* (Rehmannia). It is designed to "tonify the kidney and replenish qi," a principle in TCM used to treat chronic inflammatory and respiratory conditions. Bu Shen Yi Qi Fang has been clinically evaluated in multicenter randomized controlled trials for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchial asthma, and atopic dermatitis. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-6, IL-8, IL-17, and TNF-α, while simultaneously increasing levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 and endogenous cortisol.
