bucetin

Bucetin is a small molecule analgesic and antipyretic drug that was previously approved for use in Germany but withdrawn from the market in 1986 due to its association with renal toxicity and risk of carcinogenesis. Chemically, it is an anilide derivative closely related to phenacetin, sharing similar pharmacological effects and risks. Bucetin was used as a substitute for phenacetin because of its comparable analgesic activity at appropriate doses but was ultimately discontinued due to safety concerns[1][2][3][4][5][7]. Its primary indications were the treatment of pain and fever.
