Buddleja cordata methanolic extract is a botanical preparation derived from the Mexican plant *Buddleja cordata*, commonly known as tepozán. The extract is rich in bioactive phenylpropanoids, such as verbascoside, which exhibit potent antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. In preclinical research using the MPP(+) rat model of Parkinson's disease, oral administration of the extract has been shown to significantly reduce oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in the striatum. This mechanism leads to the preservation of dopaminergic neurons and striatal dopamine levels, resulting in a marked improvement in motor behavioral deficits. The extract's ability to mitigate neuronal death suggests potential therapeutic utility in treating neurodegenerative disorders characterized by oxidative damage.
