Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Buddlejae flos (密蒙花), also known as Mi Meng Hua or Buddleia flower, refers to the dried flower buds of Buddleja officinalis and related species. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is primarily used to clear heat from the liver and improve vision. It is commonly prescribed for eye conditions such as redness, swelling, pain, blurry vision due to liver heat or deficiency, excessive tearing, and superficial visual obstruction. Pharmacological studies indicate that buddlejae flos contains antioxidants like flavonoids and phenolic compounds with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These may contribute to its traditional use in supporting eye health by protecting against oxidative stress and inflammation. Additional reported effects include immune-boosting activity, cardiovascular support (such as lowering blood pressure), neuroprotective potential against neurodegenerative diseases through reduction of oxidative stress in the brain, digestive support by alleviating discomfort like bloating or indigestion, skin-soothing effects when used topically due to its anti-inflammatory action[2][3][4][5].
