Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Budesonide + azithromycin is a combination therapy used primarily for respiratory conditions, particularly in the treatment of Mycoplasma pneumonia. Budesonide is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, suppresses mucus secretion, and alleviates edema and spasms in the lungs. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic effective against Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections. The combination has demonstrated enhanced therapeutic effectiveness, improved pulmonary function, diminished lung inflammation, reduced duration of fever, and faster resolution of symptoms compared to either medication alone. It effectively mitigates the overexpression of inflammatory factors such as C-reactive protein, TNF-α, and IL-6 without significantly increasing adverse reactions.
