Budesonide + lansoprazole is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for gastrointestinal and inflammatory conditions. Budesonide is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory properties, acting mainly by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating gene expression to reduce inflammation in the intestines and lungs[3][4][6]. Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+,K+-ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, making it effective for treating ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome[2][8]. The combination may be considered in patients requiring both anti-inflammatory therapy (e.g. Crohn’s disease) and acid suppression.
