Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Budesonide + procaterol** is an investigational fixed-dose inhaled asthma combination developed by Intech Biopharm as **SYN006**, delivered as a hydrofluoroalkane metered-dose inhaler. It combines budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid that activates the glucocorticoid receptor to suppress airway inflammation, with procaterol, a selective short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that produces bronchodilation. The SYN006 HFA MDI formulation contains budesonide 180 micrograms plus procaterol hydrochloride 10 micrograms per inhalation and has been studied in asthma; Intech Biopharm has reported completion of Phase 2 development and preparation for Phase 3 submission. Separate clinical research has also evaluated inhaled budesonide administered with oral procaterol for cough-variant asthma.
