budigalimab + ABBV-382

Budigalimab + ABBV-382 is an investigational combination of two monoclonal antibodies being studied primarily for the treatment of HIV. Budigalimab (also known as ABBV-181) is an anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody that modulates immune checkpoint pathways to enhance T-cell mediated immune responses. ABBV-382 is an anti-α4β7 integrin monoclonal antibody that blocks the α4β7/MAdCAM-1 and α4β7/gp120 interaction, which is implicated in HIV infection and immune control, and enhances antigen presentation of HIV immune complexes. The combination is intended to promote ART-free viral control by targeting complementary steps of immune surveillance and viral persistence. Both drugs are developed by AbbVie and are in clinical development stages for HIV/AIDS as a potential functional cure approach[1][2][3][5][6].
