Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bufei Jiedu is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Longhua Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily utilized as an adjunctive therapy for refractory *Mycobacterium avium* complex (MAC) pulmonary disease. Formulated as granules, the treatment is based on the TCM principles of "tonifying the lung" (Bufei) and "detoxifying" (Jiedu), which aim to strengthen the body's immune defenses and eliminate persistent pathogens. In clinical trials, Bufei Jiedu is evaluated for its ability to improve sputum culture conversion rates and alleviate clinical symptoms when added to standard-of-care antibiotic regimens, such as the CONVERT protocol (amikacin liposome inhalation suspension).
