Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bugu Shengsui Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound herbal formula primarily used for the treatment of osteoporosis. It consists of eight herbs, including Drynaria, Fructus Psoraleae, Rhizoma cibotii, Wolfberry, Raw Oysters, Ginseng, Panax Notoginseng, and Fructus Amomi. The decoction has demonstrated significant clinical efficacy in improving bone metabolism parameters such as bone mineral density (BMD), bone morphology, and biomechanics in animal models and human studies. Mechanistically, Bugu Shengsui Decoction promotes osteogenesis by stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts through activation of the PI3K-AKT pathway as well as ERK/Smad signaling pathways. It increases expression of key osteogenic factors like Runx2 and enhances alkaline phosphatase activity. The formulation is considered safe with reliable clinical outcomes for osteoporosis management[1][2][3][4].
